Terms and Conditions of Service

Book A Chef – Terms and Conditions
1. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be resolved exclusively in the courts of Auckland.
2. Services and Availability
Book A Chef provides private chef services exclusively within the Auckland region. Services are subject to availability and confirmation.
3. Pricing and Payment
All prices are quoted in New Zealand Dollars (NZD) and include Goods and Services Tax (GST). Full payment (100%) is required upfront on the day of the booking by bank transfer to the following account:

4. Booking Refund and Cancellation Policy
70% refundable if cancelled more than 7 days before the event
50% refundable if cancelled between 7 days and 2 days prior to the event
No refund if cancelled within 48 hours of the event
Bookings may be rescheduled up to 72 hours prior to the event date, subject to availability
Ingredients are subject to change according to availability without notice
5. Client Responsibilities and Kitchen Access
Clients must provide a clean, safe, and fully functional kitchen for the event, including:
Working stove and/or oven
Clean bench space
Running water and sink
Functioning refrigerator
Adequate lighting and ventilation
Book A Chef is not responsible for delays, limitations, or cancellation resulting from inadequate, unsafe, or unavailable kitchen facilities. If the kitchen does not meet minimum health and safety standards upon arrival, the chef reserves the right to refuse service without refund.
6. Liability and Insurance
Clients must notify Book A Chef of any allergies or dietary restrictions at least 72 hours prior to the event. While reasonable care will be taken, Book A Chef accepts no liability for allergic reactions or health issues arising from undisclosed or unknown ingredients.
Book A Chef is not liable for any damage to the client’s property unless caused by proven negligence.
Book A Chef is not liable for personal injury, illness, or loss incurred during or as a result of the event, except where required by New Zealand consumer protection laws.
Each chef is individually and personally responsible for holding valid public liability insurance appropriate for private chef services in New Zealand and must carry this insurance at the time of the event.
7. Alcohol and Beverage Policy
Clients are responsible for providing their own beverages, including alcoholic drinks.
8. Privacy and Data Protection
Book A Chef collects and stores personal information such as names, contact details, and payment information necessary to provide its services. Book A Chef complies with New Zealand’s Privacy Act 2020. Personal information will be handled securely and used solely for service delivery, payment processing, and communication related to bookings. Personal information will not be shared with third parties without consent, except where required by law.
9. Intellectual Property
All intellectual property rights in recipes, menus, photographs, and any marketing materials created or used by Book A Chef remain the sole property of Book A Chef. Clients may not copy, reproduce, or distribute these materials without prior written permission.
10. Photography and Promotional Content
Photographs and videos may be taken by Book A Chef’s chefs or staff during events for promotional and marketing purposes. Clients who do not wish to have their event photographed or recorded must notify Book A Chef in advance.
11. Force Majeure
Book A Chef shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing its obligations caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, government restrictions, pandemics, or other emergencies. In such cases, Book A Chef will make reasonable efforts to notify the client and reschedule services if possible.
12. Complaint Handling
If a client has any concerns or complaints regarding the services provided, they should contact Book A Chef promptly. We are committed to addressing all complaints in a fair and timely manner. Complaints can be made by email to info@bookachef.co.nz
